The renovation of the St Oran's Dallard Block was another opportunity for Maycroft to further develop our relationship with the College, and to provide quality construction.
The Dallard Administration Block faced damage following the 2017 Kaikoura earthquake, and the deision from the College Board of Proprietors was to repair and restore the building.
Now completed, this project provides modern flexible teaching and gathering spaces, a ‘Wellbeing Centre’, the Year 13 Common room, the library, as well as the staff room, senior leadership offices, meeting rooms and a more accessible reception area. The most damaged part of the building has been removed and replaced with a modern structure that also fits in with the rest of the block. It has been important for us to retain or reuse many of the historical features of the building, including much of the rimu timber in the library.
Being in a live school environment, the works were carried out in stages to help minimise the disruption to the normally smooth running of the school.
The staff and students have been understanding of and cooperative with the construction works on site and welcomed the opportunity for a midconstruction presentation from our Site Foreman.
