Maycroft was engaged to deliver the SPIRE project at the Palmerston North hospital, which saw the conversion and refurbishment of existing facilities relating to Surgical, Procedural, Interventional, Recovery, Expansion (SPIRE).

The project was divided over two stages. The first stage saw the addition of two new Procedure rooms, an enlarged Recovery Area, and an expansion to the supporting clinical and non-clinical resources such as staff amenities. Stage 2 saw the addition of two new Operating Theatres and the establishment of a new Cardiac Catheter Lab.

Working within a hospital environment that was relied upon 24 hours a day, 7 days a week didn't come without challenges.

The upgrade works were located in very close proximity to the Accident and Emergency department, operating theatres, procedural rooms, and sterile areas. Surrounding spaces were also used by staff, patients, and the general public.

Fortunately, Maycroft had experience working in similar environments and had a professional and dedicated team to deliver this crucial project.
