After nearly 70 years of successfully completing strengthening and refurbishment projects for our customers, we had the opportunity to create our own space once again. This time it was for our new head office located on Gear Street and adjoining workshop on Petone Ave. We approached this project with the same level of care and dedication that we pour into every project.
In mid-2021, we found the perfect office building and workshop spaces to become Maycroft's new home. Interestingly, these spaces were originally built by us 27 years prior, adding a special touch to this project. However, they needed some strengthening and a fit-out to align with our vision of a modern and functional workspace. Our preconstruction team got to work and in January 2022 we were ready to begin construction.
Our new head office is a modern open-plan workplace, encouraging connection and teamwork. Upstairs, is an inviting open working layout complemented by focused breakout areas, collaboration spaces, and meeting rooms. We believe in the power of collaboration, and these thoughtfully designed spaces provide an ideal environment for our team to come together and exchange ideas.
Downstairs is a welcoming social space and kitchen that serves as the heart of our office. It's the perfect spot for casual conversations and shared meals. Meeting rooms and a boardroom can comfortably accommodate larger team or customer meetings are also downstairs.
We've also included individual lockers and modern shower facilities, ensuring convenience and comfort. Located near public transport options and gyms, we strive to make commuting and maintaining an active lifestyle easy for our team. We believe that a well-rounded workspace contributes to overall well-being and productivity.
This project is a significant milestone for Maycroft, as we now proudly own our own spaces in both Central and Wellington regions. It represents our growth as a company and our dedication to creating great buildings, not only for our customers but also for our own team.
