With growing demand for their freight and logistics services, Mainstream Group sought a new transport depot to streamline their operations and position their business for growth.

Mainstream engaged Maycroft to build the new 1500m2 warehouse, an attached administration block, truck yard and associated security fencing. The warehouse is a Steltech steel frame structure on piled foundations, with precast concrete panels on the lower walls and longrun cladding forming the upper walls and roof. The administration building is constructed from timber framed walls with a Dimond Hi-Span (DHS) purlin roof structure and longrun cladding and roofing system.

One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the worksite itself – bordered by a railway line, with powerlines overhead and within the airport height restriction zone, extensive planning was required to complete the work safely. We carefully planned craneage and maximum lifting heights to accommodate the restrictions and worked closely with KiwiRail to secure permits to enable scaffolding to be erected within the rail corridor.

The complexity of the project required coordinating a significant number of different trades and subcontractors. We were able to integrate the client-supplied racking into the fire sprinkler design.
