The new learning hub at Johnsonville School replaces old classrooms that were no longer fit for purpose. This new learning hub provides modern teaching and learning spaces for the school's expected roll growth.

To prepare the site for the new building, the junior playground was removed, old classrooms were demolished, and significant excavation was carried out with retaining and earthworks preparing the gently sloping area.

The two-story classroom block includes breakout learning spaces, bathroom facilities, and a technology hub. An accessibility lift, double-glazed windows, good ventilation and heating. The interior features provide a practical and comfortable learning environment for staff and students.

Our extensive experience working within a live school environment meant we had the sound practices in place to maintain the safety of students, staff and visitors to the school throughout the project.  Construction zones were cordoned off from the learning and play spaces. Major noisy and disruptive works were coordinated with the school to ensure learning was not impacted.

This was an exciting project for Johnsonville School, and we are thrilled with the result. It is a stunning learning space — both functional and comfortable — featuring quality craftsmanship and flooded with light
