We helped Foodstuffs North Island build a new Gilmours wholesale store on Bouverie Street, Petone. Replacing an existing Gilmours store in Ngauranga, the new store offers customers a superior shopping experience, with large walk-in meat, seafood, dairy and produce rooms and additional parking spaces. It is also in a more convenient location for shoppers, right off State Highway 2.
Maycroft was engaged to convert and fit-out an existing 5170m2 warehouse into the new flagship store. We divided the existing building into front of house and back of house areas and constructed the purpose built chilled area and freezer area. We created an external gates area for inwards and outward goods.
The building features steel stud framing with plywood lining and a master top ware floor slab. Poly panels are used in the chilled areas. Customer car parking and access roads for deliveries are located outside.
Delivering the project presented our team with a number of challenges, including a compressed construction programme and a large number of complex services. With the official opening date for the store already set, our team had to rigorously plan all construction works to achieve the tight programme. Installing such a large number of services in a confined space required meticulous attention to detail.
